ASL 1 Beginner – Learn American Sign Language Course for Kids

Service Description

ASL 1 is a fun, interactive yearlong course for ages 8–12. Taught by Deaf and CODA instructors, students gain real ASL skills while building a deeper understanding of Deaf culture in a full curriculum format offered year-round. In this class, your learner will: - Fingerspell their name and recognize simple fingerspelled words. - Learn and recognize at least 10 common ASL words and phrases, such as greetings, family members, and everyday actions. - Use facial expressions to show emotion and meaning in ASL communication. Prerequisites: No prior ASL experience is required. Lessons are customized based on the group's skill level. Ages 8-12 · 45 weeks, 1x per week, 30 minutes · Live video meetings · 2-10 learners per class
