ASL 3 Advanced — Teens (Ages 13–18) · 45-Week Course

$8 per class or $360 for all 45 classes

Move beyond memorized signs and use ASL to connect, explain, and tell stories. In this 45-week live course, teens develop ASL sentence structure, classifiers, role shift, spatial referencing, directional verbs, nonmanual markers, fingerspelling, number fluency, and faster receptive comprehension. Real-life themes include school, friends, community, travel, media, and future plans. Learners also explore Deaf culture and respectful visual communication.

Each 30-minute class begins with a brief voice-off warm-up and a focused visual model. Teens then practice through signed discussions, scenario role-play, story analysis, partner exchanges, and collaborative challenges. The teacher gives specific feedback on grammar, clarity, signing space, facial expression, and comprehension. Review is woven into new topics so learners build fluency over time.

Outside work stays manageable. One or two optional signing assignments give teens room to apply what they learn, while one or two supportive assessments show progress without weekly testing.

What Your Learner Will Do

  • Learners will sustain extended ASL conversations using follow-up questions, clarification, repair strategies, directional verbs, and consistent spatial references.
  • Learners will comprehend increasingly fast signed messages and accurately analyze or retell key details, sequence, perspective, and transitions.
  • Learners will create polished narratives, explanations, and presentations using classifiers, role shifting, nonmanual markers, and culturally appropriate communication.

Prerequisites: Learners should have completed ASL 2 or have equivalent skills: familiar vocabulary, fingerspelling, WH and yes/no questions, short conversations, basic facial grammar, and signed stories.
